When Ekta Kumari completed her Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) from Ranchi, she was still deciding what to do next. Of course, pursuing Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) was one of her dreams. But her family’s financial background did not support her. Her father is a small business owner in Ranchi. Surrounded with challenges, Ekta was at crossroads.
Until one day when she was referred by a friend to explore MCA course at Jharkhand Rai University (JRU). Her dream to become an MCA was fulfilled at JRU campus.
Ekta says, ‘The admission team here at JRU helped me a lot. They lowered the course fee through scholarship program. Thanks to them, I got an admission in MCA. What makes JRU different is its attention to individual student and their talent.’ At JRU, Ekta pursued her future with vigour.
Along with her MCA journey, Ekta had a second dream – to be a painter. She is gifted with a special talent and is an artist. The creative side within her wanted to pursue painting along with higher studies. As a child Ekta and her brother were enrolled in painting classes. With time, it became a passion for her. Encouraged, she started participating in various competitions and got positive response too.
Ekta found the cultural environment of the JRU campus and faculties very supportive. She says, ‘In this University, students are not only cheered for academic achievements, but also for their extracurricular activities.’
Motivated by her faculties from JRU and her art teacher Praveen Karmakar, Ekta participated in an International Painting Competition held at Bangladesh. It was a huge forum where talented and gifted artists from different countries took part.
For Ekta it was a proud moment when her painting called ‘Morning Glory’ was selected for award. Good wishes poured in for Ekta from her family and JRU family. To honour her success and talent, the University organised a painting competition at JRU campus. During the competition, several paintings of students from across departments were showcased along with Ekta’s paintings.
Going forward, to honour gifted and talented girls, the University declared an award called ‘The Women Achievers Award’. Ekta was honoured with this Award on Women’s Day this year.
Today, Ekta is the pride of Jharkhand Rai University. She continues to pursue her dream with success.
