Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (L-S-R-W) are the four skills of learning. These skills push an individual’s capability forward to comprehend their chapters effectively. Reading helps a great deal in building our confidence, reduces stress and puts us in a better mood.
Regular reading is said to be a great mental exercise. It allows us to sleep better. Books are our best friend as they help in building our wisdom and thinking capabilities. The interest in reading, like any other habit, comes with time.
In today’s digital age, the advances in technology have altered people’s interest in reading from printed version to digitalized one. To inculcate the culture of reading among the young generation, the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India introduced an innovative initiative named “Padhe Bharat, Badhe Bharat”.
The Union Education Ministry launched 100 days reading campaign ‘Padhe Bharat’ on January 1, 2022. The launch of 100 Days Reading Campaign is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which emphasizes on promotion of joyful reading culture for children by ensuring availability of age-appropriate reading books for children in local/mother tongue/regional/tribal Language.
The objective is to cultivate a lifetime habit of book reading. As on March 24, we are in the 12th week of the #100daysReadingCampaign. This week’s activity is ‘Drop Everything And Read’ (DEAR) which aims to promote reading among the students, teachers & staff members. Let us inculcate the culture of joyful reading in our university.
