The Department of Agriculture successfully celebrated International Seed Day on April 29, 2025, with great enthusiasm, aiming to raise awareness about the vital role of seeds in agriculture, biodiversity, food security, and climate resilience.

The event featured an insightful address by Dr R.P. Singh ratan Dean Agriculture of Jharkhand Rai University who emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous seed varieties and promoting sustainable farming practices. To mark the occasion, an expert talk was organized on the topic Seed: “Importance and Advances in Seed Production.”

A renowned scientist and an expert in seed development and agricultural innovation Dr. Ashok Kumar who is also a former Associate Dean of Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi delivered a insightful lecture, highlighting key aspects such as seed development, modern production technologies, sustainable agriculture, farmers’ rights, and the need to protect seeds from monopolization. Students actively engaged in the Q&A session, making the event both interactive and informative.
