“Convocation ceremony is not an educational milestone. Rather it is a turning point and a start of a new chapter in the lives of students. This day celebrates the hard work, struggle and commitment of students,” said His Excellency Governor Shri Santosh Gangwar on Friday 28 February, 2025 while addressing the students during the 5th Convocation Ceremony at Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi.
His Excellency, Shri. Santosh Gangwar, Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand & Visitor, Jharkhand Rai University was the Chief Guest & presided over the Convocation.
Commending the activities of the University, the Governor said that Jharkhand Rai University is playing an active role in developing India. Students studying here are not only given education, but are trained to be innovators. They are being prepared for ‘self-reliant India’.
“It is a historic moment for students who have worked relentlessly. I congratulate the professors who mentored these students in the right direction,” said the Governor.
Shri. Arjun Munda Ji, Former Minister & Member of Parliament, Govt. of India said that the convocation provides enthusiasm and energy to the students to march forward towards their future.
The minister added that the positive impact of the National Education Policy 2020 initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gradually unfolding. “India will emerge under this education policy. I am happy that India is moving forward on the strength of students like you. In the coming days, Jharkhand will be known for universities like Jharkhand Rai University, where the seeds of India’s future is being planted,” he said.
The program was attended by esteemed special guests, including Dr. Epsy Campbell, former Vice President of Costa Rica, and Ms. Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, former Minister of Ivory Coast and UNESCO Chair holder.
While addressing the students, Dr. Harbin Arora Rai, Chancellor of Jharkhand Rai University, said that everyone is connected with women power. The maternity power of every human being is female power. Discussing 5 sources of Shakti, she said that the first power is Shruti or Richa, which we call knowledge and university is the center of knowledge. The second power is the power of Shri, that is, the power of God. This is also female power. The third power is the power of valor. The fourth power is the power of decoration and the fifth power of labor.
Referring to the achievements of the university, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand Rai University, Prof. (Dr.) Savita Sengar said that the university plays an important role in giving direction to any nation. If the universities are alive and resonant, then our nation and civilization will also be alive.
Jharkhand Rai University believes that the real purpose of education is to build a skilled citizen for better society and nation, the VC said.
The convocation ceremony witnessed the presence of eminent international and national delegates from G100- Group of Global Women Leaders.
During the ceremony, three G100 Global Chairs H.E. Dr. Epsy Campbell Barr, H.E. Ms Euphrasie Kouassi Yao and Ms. Sulajja Firodia Motwani were awarded Honorary Doctorate, Honoris Causa for their excellence in respective fields.
Dr. Epsy Campbell in her acceptance remarks congratulated the graduates and said that I’m here because of “my journey of people who believe in possibilities to build together a better world between us women – men equal rights We need to build a new world, working without borders, by being a global tribe”. She thanked Dr Arora for the incredible movement in the form of G100.
Ms. Euphrasie Kouassi Yao in her acceptance speech appreciated the efforts made by Jharkhand Rai University towards ensuring quality education for all in the state.
Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Vice-chairperson, Kinetic Engineering Limited in her acceptance remarks said that her passion is to work towards green energy and create a better world for the future generations.
The grand academic procession of the Convocation was led by Dr Piyush Ranjan, Registrar, Jharkhand Rai University. Dr Ranjan congratulated the students for turning a new chapter in their lives.
A total of 393 students were awarded degrees at the ceremony. His Excellency Governor Shri Santosh Gangwar conferred the gold medal to 10 students while the Chancellor medal was given to 1.
One hundred twenty two postgraduate students, 184 graduate students, 87 students of diploma courses were awarded degrees and certificates. Apart from this, 23 research students were awarded PhD and three M.Tech students got their research degrees.
