Dr. Suresh Mohan Prasad
Dr. Suresh Mohan Prasad is Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Jharkhand Rai University. Dr. Prasad Obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour (Now Bihar Agricultural University) then affiliated to Bhagalpur University in First Class. Dr. Prasad earned his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Plant Pathology with Specialization in Plant Virology from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (I.A.R.I.), New Delhi-110012 during the year 1971 and 1975, respectively, with OGPA of 3.75 and 3.77 Out of 4.00. Dr. Prasad was the recipient of I.C.A.R. Junior Research Fellowship (1969-71) and I.C.A.R. Senior Fellowship (1971-75). Dr. Prasad was associated with premier Institutions like I.A.R.I., New Delhi, Central Potato Research Institute (C.P.R.I.), Shimla and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Dist., U.S.Nagar, Uttarakhand. Following selection in Agricultural Research Service (1977-Batch) Dr. Prasad joined Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (C.T.C.R.I.), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State, during October, 1977. Subsequently, Dr. Prasad joined Birsa Agricultural University (B.A.U.), Ranchi in the year, 1983 and served at BAU for 25 years in various capacities viz., Senior Scientist cum Associate Professor (Virology), Chief Scientist cum University Professor and Chairman, Department of Plant Pathology and also as Registrar of the University. At Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi Dr. Prasad joined Faculty of Science & Engineering as Head, Department of Agriculture. After a brief spell as Dean (Agricultural Education) (w.ef. 1.6.1917 till 27.9.2017) Dr. Prasad was re-designated as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation). Dr. Prasad has published a large No. of Research Papers in National and International Journals of repute, presented papers in National and International Seminars, Symposia and Conferences, authored Book and Book Chapters & Technical Bulletins both in English and Hindi languages. Dr. Prasad is a Life Member of Indian Phytopathological Society, Indian Virological Society and Indian Society of Root Crops. Dr. Prasad has served as Councillor, Eastern Zone of Indian Virological Society. Dr. Prasad has guided Thesis Research work of six M.Sc. (Ag.) and Four Ph.D. Scholars and his Ph.D. students have won 4 Gold Medals including one Chancellor’s Medal for Best Thesis Research in the Faculty/ University. Dr. Prasad was also the Rice Research Coordinator at the University Level. Dr. Prasad was President of the Literary and Debating Society and also Managing Editor of Faculty Student Magazine, The Zenith. Dr. Prasad was associated with Educational Administration as Registrar of the Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi. Dr. Prasad has also served as State Level Consultant of National Horticulture Mission and as Expert Consultant on Organic Farming with Shri Ram Agro innovatives, a unit of Shri Ram Solvent Extraction Pvt. Ltd., (An ISO 9001-2008 Company), Kalkaji, Delhi-110019.
Dr. Dhananjay Kumar
Dr. Dhananjay Kumar is Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture. Dr. Dhananjay Kumar obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Ranchi University, Ranchi; M.Sc.(Biotechnology) from Punjabi University Patiala; and doctoral degree. from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. For the doctoral degree programme Dr. Dhananjay worked on “Study of WRKY transcription factor and analysis of miRNAs for the analysis of defense response in wheat during leaf rust infection”. Dr. Kumar has qualified CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF and GATE and is credited with a number of research papers published in peer reviewed National & International journals of repute. Dr. Kumar has also made several presentation including both posters and oral presentations at National and International conferences. Dr. Kumar has received wide acclaims and distinction for having submitted Sequences to GenBank (National Center for Biotechnology Information) of Transcription factor, microRNA libraries under Short Read Archive and partial sequences of 16S ribosomal RNA genes. Dr. Kumar possesses 11 years of research and 9 years of teaching experience, has guided more than 20 students for M.Tech, M.Sc. and B. Tech for their projects and dissertation works. The areas of specialization of Dr. Kumar has been Molecular Biology, Transcriptomics, Functional Genomics, Proteomics, Plant Tissue culture, NGS, microRNA, Plant-pathogen interaction and microbial ecology etc.
Shweta Singh is currently working as Assistant Professor & Program Coordinator – Department of Agriculture. She has earned her M.Sc. (Agricultural Biotechnology) and B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi. She has qualified ICAR-NET in the year 2014. She is pursuing Ph.D. from Department of Bio-Engineering, B.I.T. Mesra, Ranchi. She has received merit fellowship throughout her graduation and post graduation period. She has received TEQIP fellowship during Ph.D. for nearly three years. She has published various research article and book chapters. She has attended a national seminar and received best poster award therein. Her areas of interest include plant tissue culture, hairy root transformation, molecular biology and metabolomics.
Varsha Rani is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science & Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. She earned her Graduation in Agriculture from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. She’s Masters and Ph.D in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Physiology from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. The topic of her doctoral dissertation was, “Physiological Studies of Mango (Mangifera indica L.) malformation in five states of Northern India” and was also awarded with ICAR JRF fellowship and DST INSPIRE fellowship during her Masters and Doctoral research work respectively. Apart from presenting research papers in various Seminars and Conferences, She has also authored few research papers that has been published in various International Journals.
Sushma Priya is a Faculty Associate in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. She earned her Graduation in Agriculture from Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi. She’s Masters in Agricultural Economics from Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U), Varanasi, U.P. Her specialization in Master’s was “To study the trend in production and export of mango from India”. She has attended the National Conference on Agricultural Marketing.
Hemlata Kumari is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science & Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. She earned her Graduation in Agriculture from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad (AP). She has earned her M.Sc. and pursuing Ph.D. from Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour (Bhagalpur). She has received merit fellowship throughout her graduation, post graduation period and Ph.D. The topic of her M.Sc. and doctoral dissertation was “Genetic studies in Baby Corn and Study of Combining Ability and Yield Stability Analysis of Quality Protein Maize”. She has qualified ICAR-NET in the year 2015 and also in 2018. She has published various research papers in National and International Journals. She has attended various national seminars, Workshop and Training Programs respectively.
Neeraj is working as Assistant Professor in Agriculture Department. She awarded M.Sc. (Food Technology) degree during 2011 from GJU Sci. & Tech. Hisar, Haryana and Ph.D. (Food Science and Technology) in 2017 from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, and Haryana. She was recipient of University Gold Medal in M.Sc. Dr Neeraj qualified ICAR-SRF (PGS), ASRB (ICAR) NET and UGC NET exam. She was awarded with Best Doctoral Thesis Award, Best Research Scholar Award and Best Poster Presentation by different societies. She has 2 year experience in teaching and research. She is a life member of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (AFSTI, India). She has published various research papers, hindi and English articles in different national and international journals and magazines.
Ummay Hafsa is working as Assistant Professor in Agriculture Department. She has completed her B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture and M.Sc(Ag) degree programme in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bhagalpur, Bihar during the year, 2016 and 2018, respectively. She was a recipient of National Talent Scholarship during her Bachelor’s degree programme. Ms. Hafsa worked on the topic ‘Characterization of F2 segregants for submergence tolerance in rice.’ for her Masters’ thesis research. She received State Government research fellowship for PG research work. Ms. Hafsa is a National Level Debater and has brought laurels. She has attended a number of national conferences and has presented research and review papers.
Mrs Shaili kumari is Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture. Mrs Shaili Kumari obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Dr Y.S.R Horticulture University Hyderabad. M.Sc.(Horticulture fruit science) from Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi and doctoral degree from Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi. For the doctoral degree programme Shaili kumari worked on “Genetic Diversity studies and characterization in pomegranate”. Mrs Shaili Kumari qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ASRB (ICAR), New Delhi- recognized by UGC/CSIR the discipline of Fruit science in 2015 with a number of research papers published in peer reviewed National & International journals of repute. Mrs Shaili Kumari also made several presentation including both posters and oral presentations at National and International conferences. She secured Junior Research Fellowship (ICAR-JRF) with All Indian Rank- 5th, for- pursuing Master in Horticulture by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India. She awarded with Senior Research Fellowship (ICAR-SRF) with All India Rank- 11, for pursuing Doctor of Philosophy in Horticulture by Indian Council of Agricultural Research. She Selected for UGC -Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for OBC for pursuing Ph.D. She awarded for best poster Award in National conference of breeding of tropical and subtropical fruit crops for which entitled “Diversity analysis of guava genotype and Psidium species using morphological parameters and SSR markers and 7th Indian horticulture congress which entitled “Correlation between phenotypic and genotypic distances among cultivars, variants and species of guava (Psidium sp).
