It is a proud moment for Jharkhand Rai University. Kumar Amrendra, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi has been selected by University Grants Commission (UGC) as a Master Trainer for training faculties in Higher Education Institutions in the lines of Indian Knowledge Systems as recommended by NEP 2020.
The National Education Policy 2020 lays special emphasis on the promotion of Indian Languages, Arts and Culture, and tries to remove this discontinuity in the flow of Indian Knowledge System by integrating IKS into curriculums at all levels of education. The success of NEP 2020 and its special component on the Indian Knowledge System relies heavily on the shoulders of the faculty of Higher Education Institutions. Despite being experts in their respective fields, majority of the faculty in UGC recognized institutions are not much familiar with IKS.
Master Trainers are selected based on written exams conducted by UGC at national level. The training program for master trainers will be held from 26 February to 2 March, 2024 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Congratulating Prof. Kumar Amrendra, VC Dr Savita Sengar said that Prof Amrendra is a very talented faculty of our university. She further said that there is a need to make our youth aware of the vast ancient traditional knowledge in India and clearly incorporate this knowledge with modern scientific advancements and technologies.
Registrar, Dr Piyush Ranjan said that it is a moment of pride for the JRU Ranchi family. He said that JRU Ranchi has already begun its efforts towards making IKS a part of its curriculum. The University has already conducted Faculty Development Programs with respect to IKS.
In order to facilitate a seamless integration of Indian traditional knowledge with modern subjects, UGC has come up with ‘Guidelines for Training of Faculty on IKS’. The IKS aims to contribute to the second and third aspects of “PanchPran” resolutions.
