Mining Engineering Lab

Established in 2014, the Department of Mining Engineering offers two flagship academic programs: B.Tech in Mining Engineering and Diploma in Mining Engineering. Since its inception, the department has been committed to delivering quality technical education, research excellence, and industry-oriented training.

The department is equipped with well-developed and modern laboratories, including Geology Lab, Rock Mechanics Lab, Fuel Technology & Mineral Processing Lab, Mine Ventilation Lab, Mine Surveying Lab, Workshop Lab, Mechanics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Engineering Physics Lab, and Electrical & Electronics Lab, providing students with comprehensive practical exposure.

The faculty members possess rich academic and mining industry experience. They are highly research-oriented, with significant contributions in the form of quality research publications, patents, funded research grants, and reviewer roles in reputed international journals, fostering a strong culture of innovation and scholarly excellence.

The department actively promotes student research, innovation, and professional development. Students regularly present research papers and innovative ideas at national conferences and seminars. Every year, a significant number of students qualify the GATE examination, secure positions in prestigious Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and pursue higher education at premier institutes such as IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, NIT Rourkela, BIT Sindri, and other leading institutions.

With a strong foundation of academic rigor, research excellence, and industry collaboration, the department continues to shape competent, ethical, and future-ready mining engineers.

The Department of Mining Engineering has effectively implemented NEP 2020 through the Multiple Entry and Exit system, ensuring academic flexibility. The integration of the Bharatiya Knowledge System (BKS) across core mining subjects further enriches the curriculum, blending traditional insights with modern mining education.
