BA LLB Program Objective

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (B.A., LL.B.) course is a full-time integrated course (5 years). This Under Graduate course of study aims to bridge the gap between legal theory and praxis. For this, an understanding of the social sciences is essential. Through a combination of courses in arts and law subjects, the Programme is designed in keeping with the latest Bar Council of India rules and the University Grants Commission prescriptions and aims at fostering a culture of scholarship and academic excellence amongst the students.

Jharkhand Rai University (JRU) Ranchi offers Bachelor degree under the stream of Legal Studies Department with all the required facilities to make students excel in the field of knowledge. The teaching methods adopted for the Degree programme are such as to promote multi-disciplinary inquiry and practical appreciation of problems.The method of teaching involves lectures, discussions, case studies, Moot Courts and project work. The courses on Clinical Legal Education are taught by integrating classroom teaching with simulation exercises. Efforts are being made to expose students to court realities.

PEOs (Program Educational Objectives) relate to the career and professional accomplishments of passed out students after their graduation from the program. However, keeping the significance of contribution of the curriculum and the assessment opportunities such as examination and evaluation results, placement data, employer feedback and higher education entrance performance etc. are taken as tools for supplementary evidence to assess PEOs

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO1 - Explore and explain the substantial procedural laws in which they are made/ drafted and how students think and understand the legislative setup.

PEO2- Interpret And Analyze the legal and social problems and work towards finding solutions to the problems by application of laws and regulations.

PEO3 -Inculcate values of Rights and Duties, and transfer these values to real-life through legal and judicial process for promoting community welfare.

PEO4 -Apply ethical principles and commit to legal professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of the established legal practices

PEO5 -Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broader context of legal change

Law Graduates will be able to:

  1. Legal Knowledge: To acquire & apply legal knowledge to the complex Sociolegal problems.
  2. Professional Practice: to make students eligible to practice in Courts, Industries, Companies as legal practitioner.
  3. Professional Skills: To possess professional skills required for legal practice such as Argument, Pleading, drafting, conveyancing etc.
  4. Professional Ethics: To understand and apply principles of professional ethics of legal profession.
  5. Legal research & legal reasoning: to develop legal research skills & legal reasoning and apply it during programme & in Legal practice.
  6. Self-reflection & lifelong learning : To develop an attitude of self-reflection while learning & Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of changing legal contexts.
  7. Self-employability: To provide a platform of self-employability by developing professional skills in legal industry.
  8. Leadership skills: To develop leadership qualities amongst students. Lifelong Learning: To make awareness about Constitutional legislative & societal transformation in society & to develop clinical abilities.

Lawyering skills: Every graduate will become skilled in legal research, written and oral communication, teamwork, advocacy, and problem-solving

Law Graduates will have

PSO1- Acquire advance knowledge in the specific field of law chosen for the specialization.

PSO2- Interpret And analyze the legal and social problems and work towards finding solutions to the problems by application of laws and regulations

PSO3- Students are equipped with the knowledge of teaching methods through the subject on Teaching Pedagogy thereby enabling them to enter the teaching profession.

PSO4- Through compulsory research component in the form of Dissertation, the students learn to conduct research study.
