Program Objective
Young fashion designers are redefining today’s fashion panorama. Be it the luxury brands or mass market brands, developing fashion/design that is relevant, tasteful, colorful, yet unique is the need of the market. Pursuing JRU Bachelor of Fashion and Apparel Designing (BFAD) equips students with the requisite knowledge and skills to be a trend setter in the industry. Our Fashion Design program is especially curate to address the needs of the global fashion industry.
Why – Fashion and apparel design are no longer confined to aesthetics only, It demands a holistic understanding of the strategic issues pertaining to the brands in terms of positioning, market potential and communication. One of the key features of BFAD is to equip the students with technical background mandatory in the ever expanding retail sector in India and in international markets.
What’s more – During the program, students will ideate and create products, learn fabric design, gain technical and professional knowledge and capabilities to work as fashion designers and fashion product developers in this sector. The course will equip the students with creative skills through hand-sketching of the design, to draping, pattern creation, sewing and execution of the finished product. An interesting feature of this course – Students are required to prepare a portfolio. Selected collections from various portfolios will then be showcased to people from fashion industry and academia at a graduate runway. Fundamentals of designs are also imparted through seminars, workshops, group discussions, study tours, exhibitions, summer workshops, visits to galleries & museums and industry visits.
