Jharkhand Rai University (JRU) is one of the esteemed University in the state of Jharkhand established under “Jharkhand Act 03 of 2012” by Jharkhand State Legislature. Since its establishment in 2012, JRU has gained a prominent reputation for its outstanding achievements in academics, research and innovation. About Mining Engineering Department
Established in 2014, the Department of Mining Engineering offers two flagship academic programmes: the B.Tech in Mining Engineering and the Diploma in Mining Engineering. From its inception, the department has been committed to delivering quality technical education, fostering research and innovation, and providing strong industry oriented training. Well-equipped laboratories—including Geology, Rock Mechanics, Fuel Technology & Mineral Processing, Mine Ventilation, Mine Surveying, Workshop, Mechanics, Chemistry, Engineering Physics, and Electrical & Electronics—ensure that students gain comprehensive practical exposure. Academic and professional excellence is further strengthened by a team of highly qualified faculty members with significant industry experience. The department nurtures a vibrant research culture. Faculty members have published over 50 quality research papers, filed around 8 patents, and served as reviewers for reputed international journals. Several research proposals have also been submitted to the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and under the Indian Knowledge Systems initiative of the Ministry of Education. Students regularly present research papers and innovative ideas at national seminars and international conferences, reflecting a strong spirit of inquiry and innovation. Research engagement is actively encouraged, with publications given weightage in project evaluation. In terms of placements, internships, and co- curricular activities, students receive hands-on industrial exposure through training and internships at leading organizations such as Eastern Coalfields Limited, Central Coalfields Limited, Tata Steel, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, and Northern Coalfields.
