The Department of Mining Engineering was established in the year 2014. The programme envisages the development of certain skills and knowledge which are enumerated in the Programme Outcomes (POs). The programme curriculum comprising of theory, lab practical, industrial and mine visits, industrial training and project works enables/satisfy the programme specific criteria for Mining Engineering. In addition to the core mining engineering subjects, a number of program specific elective & open elective subjects have been incorporated to enable the students to attain a high level of competence and proficiency in the field of Mining Engineering. The course curriculum is not static and is periodically revised and improved to keep in time with the technological developments in the domain of Mining Engineering. Our students participate regularly in technical events organized by other institutes (IITs, NITs and other engineering institutions of the country) and get appreciation. The B.Tech & Diploma Programme enjoys a remarkable post graduate & post diploma training up to 100% every year. The department strives to remain in the forefront by regular credit based vocational training in underground & opencast mines throughout the nation in coal & metalliferous mines.

- To strive for excellence in academics, research and technology and contribute to the development of region and the nation in the area of mining engineering through continuous up gradation of facilities.
- To create human resource for developing and adopting appropriate technology in mining towards sustainable development and safe extraction of mineral resources.
