Prof. Avijit Ghosh

Avijit Ghosh is the Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering. He completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 1980 and also obtained First Class Manager`s Certificate of competency restricted to open cast metalliferous mine from DGMS Dhanbad. He has retired from the post of Chairman cum Managing Director, HEC Ranchi. Mr. Ghosh has 37 years of professional experience in many organizations including Hindustan Copper Limited, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., Indian Aluminum Company, Raymond Cement Works etc. Mr. Ghosh has been awarded Dr. J. Coggin Brown Memorial Gold Medal by Mining Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) for his outstanding contribution in the field of Mining.



Prof. Dhirendra Prasad Pandey

Dhirendra Prasad Pandey is a Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (Mining Dept.) at Jharkhand Rai University. Prof. Pandey has earned his M.Tech from ISM Dhanbad in First Class with specialisation in Industrial Engineering and Management) and B.Sc in Mining Engineering from ISM Dhanbad itself with First Class. He also owns the PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relation from Annamalai University. Prof. Pandey has a rich experience of 36 years and during this span he has worked at different Managerial positions in Collieries & Offices of Subsidiaries of CIL (a Maharatan CPSU) since July1974. He was the Chief General Manager (Mining) in the Project Appraisal Division of CMPDI (HQ), Ranchi.



Dr. Ved Prakash Singh

Dr. Ved Prakash Singh, Associate Professor, is the Controller of Examinations at Jharkhand Rai University, a position he has held since January 2020. With a Master of Science degree from J.P. University, Chapra, he has completed his Ph.D from J. P University, Chapra (Bihar). He brings over fifteen years of experience in teaching and academic administration, having served in key roles such as formal Deputy Registrar (Examinations) Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi, Academic In-charge and Examination Controller at various esteemed engineering colleges. Dr. Singh is dedicated to promoting academic excellence through meticulous examination management and a strong focus on compliance and security. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he has made significant contributions to research, with numerous publications in national and international journals. His notable works include a book chapter on Pollution assessment near coal mines and a forthcoming paper on Sustainable waste disposal practices to be published by SPRINGER NATURE. Dr. Singh has also been actively involved in a government-sponsored project on fluoride containment in water across different districts in Jharkhand. Known for his collaborative approach, he works closely with faculty, staff, and students to create a supportive environment that emphasizes student success. His commitment to innovation and integrity in education makes him a key figure in shaping the future of academic administration at the university.


Vineeta Kumari
Dr. Vineeta Kumari

Dr. Vineeta Kumari is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. She is Ph.D from Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, Bihar. She earned her Master Degree from Magadh University, Bodhgaya. The topic of her doctoral dissertation was “Studies on Salvation & Desolvation in different Aqua-organic Co-solvent media”. She has presented her research paper in National and International seminars. She has 7 Years of rich experience in teaching and research.


Jai Prakash Meena
Dr. Jai Prakash Meena

Dr. Jai Prakash Meena is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. He has completed his Master of Technology in Mining Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has also completed his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Samir Kumar Das from the Department of Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His Research areas are Mine Safety management, Mines safety Analytics, Industrial Safety and Mineral Economics etc. He has been the visiting faculty in the School of Mines and Metallurgy, Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol (West Bengal). He has also served as an Assistant Professor in the department of Mining Engineering, Shridhar University, Pilani (Rajasthan) and 6 Students have completed M. Tech Project and submitted their thesis under his Supervision. He was also the course facilitator and conducted more than 13 Short Term courses in the Department of Mining Engineering in association with Continuing Education Program, IIT Kharagpur along with his PhD Supervisor. He has also been associated and worked in several projects of SRIC (Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy) in IIT Kharagpur.


Dr. Arindam Ghosh
Dr. Arindam Ghosh

Dr. Arindam Ghosh is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering. He has completed his Doctoral degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad in collaboration with UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore, RRCAT, BARC, IUAC etc. He has awarded the Prestigious D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship from UGC. He has successfully completed two research projects. He has published a patent entitled with “A method for determination of Fe doping on properties of chemically grown CdS thin films”. He has more than 15 years of experience in Teaching and Administrative positions like: Dean of Faculty of Sciences, HOD, Principal, Coordinatorship etc. He was also the Member of Academic Council of RCU. He was also the Chairperson of the Syllabus Committee of RCU. He has conducted several International Conferences like International; Conference on Advances in Basic Sciences and various FDPs. He has published several research papers in Elsevier, Scopus, Science Direct etc. and presented & published in several Conference Proceedings. He has also published a book with ISBN no. His field of research interests are Nanomaterial, Gas Sensors, Swift Heavy Ion irradiation etc.


sumit Kishor
Mr. Sumeet Kishore

Sumeet Kishore is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering with Jharkhand Rai University. Mr. Kishore earned his Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering from B.I.T. Sindri, Dhanbad & masters from Shridhar University, Rajasthan. He has worked on the topic “Designing and Optimization of pillar sizes in Undergroung Coal Mines” for 6 month. Mr. Kishore has enriched his research work with quality papers in the field of mining engineering. He has visited and analyzed the working culture of various mines such as HCL Ghatsila, Bararee Colliery BCCL, SAIL Chasnala, Bagru Mines, Hindalco, etc. He has received various recognitions for contribution towards students from IIT Bombay, Global Teaching Academic etc. He is also member of scientific committee of Institute for engineering research & publication.Apart from this he has proficiency in Web Technology, Computer Languages, etc. and also provides consultation to the student regarding their career, future scope & outcome.



Om Prakash Satyam

Om Prakash Satyam, a Master in Production Technology had started his career as a Trainee Engineer in the Production of Heavy Farming Equipments at Punjab Agro Based Ltd., based on Bhatinda, Punjab, in April’2012. After gaining industry experiences in Production, Mr. Satyam started his career in academics with BM Groups of Institutions, Gurugram, in the department of Mechanical Engineering, since July’ 2012. Mr. Satyam, a Gate qualified engineer, has published his thesis, titled, “To Study the effect of Process Parameters on Mechanical Properties of Mild Steel in Sub-merged Metal” in IJMEIT. His area of interest includes “Strength of Material”, “Machine Design”, “Production Technology”, & “Tribology’’ etc. He has six years of Teaching Experience. He has participated in NPTEL courses such as Wastewater Treatment and Recycling, Processing of Polymers and Polymers Composites, Geosynthetics Laboratory and Project Planning and Development. Presently he is working with Jharkhand Rai University as a Assistant Professor.


Somnath Kumar Rishi
Mr. Somnath Kumar Rishi

Somnath Kumar Rishi is working as a Lecturer in Department of Mining Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. He has completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mining Engineering from Mats University, School of Engineering & IT Raipur (C.G). He also obtained Second Class Mine’s Manager Certificate of Competency (UR) Coal from DGMS Dhanbad. He has worked in u/g which is governed by Reliance Mines Chhindwara (M.P). He has also visited and analyzed working culture at CCL Dhori & Govindpur Colliery, MOIL MANGANESE ORE MINES SITASOWNGI, NAGPUR, KANHAN AREA WCL UG COAL NAGPUR (M.H). He is committed and an engaging Lecturer, bringing exceptional lecturing skills and expertise in Mining Engineering. He has also worked in several projects on “A systematic Utilization of Shovel Dumper combination” and “Using of Fly ash for backfilling.


Kamakhya Narayan
Mr. Kamakhya Narayan

Kamakhya Narayan is a Lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi. He has completed his bachelor’s degree in mining from Shridhar University (Rajasthan) and Diploma in Mining from Ballarpur Institute of Technology (Maharashtra). He has visited and analyzed the working culture of various underground as well as opencast mines such as Sunflag u/g mines (Warora), Sail u/g mines upper seam (Chasnalla), Sail u/g deep mine (Chasnalla), Wcl u/g mines (Chhatarpur mine no-1) and also worked as blasting engineer at JSW iron ore opencast mines (Odisha). He’s a committed and engaging Lecturer, bringing exceptional lecturing skills and expertise in Mining Engineering sought after for a variety of learning modalities and support materials to facilitate the learning process and accentuate presentation.


Chandan Kumar
Mr. Chandan Kumar

Mr. Chandan Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering. He earned his master’s in computer Aided Analysis and Design from BIT Mesra, Ranchi in the year 2016. The topic of his master’s dissertation was, ‘’Design and Development of Low-cost Automated Sprinkler System for rural areas”. He accomplished his Bachelor’s of Engineering degree from Vishveswaraya Technical University, Belgaum Karnataka. He is having experience in the construction industry & 4 + years of teaching experience. Apart from presenting research papers in National and International seminars and conferences, he attended various faculty development programs, workshops and seminars at the national level.


Chandan Kumar Pandit
Mr. Chandan Kumar Pandit

Chandan Kumar Pandit is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. Of Mining at Jharkhand Rai University. He earned his Master’s in Mathematics from Ranchi University. He is pursuing Ph.D. from Ranchi University on the topic “Impact of Climate Change on Rainfall in Ranchi, Jharkhand” under Junior research Fellowship awarded by UGC. He was awarded with “Research Excellence Award” by Centre for Social and Environmental Research in 2023. Apart from presenting research papers in various international and national seminars and conferences, he has also authored various research papers in international and national journals. He was previously working as “Senior Research Fellow” at University Department of Mathematics, Ranchi University and engaged classes for M.SC. (Mathematics).


Kunal Shahdeo
Mr. Kunal Shahdeo

Kunal Shahdeo is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. Mr. Shahdeo earned his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from B.I.T. Sindri, Dhanbad & Masters from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. The topic of his Master’s dissertation was, ‘’Design and analysis of laminated composite box beam”. He has worked as Senior Subject Matter Expert in an Ed-tech company. He has a professional experience of 3 years.


Sudhakar Kumar Ravi
Mr. Sudhakar Kumar Ravi

Sudhakar Kumar Ravi is a Lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi. He has four years of teaching experience and served as a Lecturer and Head of the Department of Mining Engineering at PRIT (Primiya Rishikesh Institute of Technology), Topchanchi, Dhanbad. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal. He has GATE qualified & reflecting his strong academic foundation in mining and allied disciplines.

In addition to his academic qualifications, he has 1.5 years of hands-on field experience in both opencast and underground mining operations. He worked as a Shift-in-Charge at CMAT, where he managed daily mining activities, enforced safety standards, and optimized operational efficiency in opencast mines. He also gained underground mining experience during his internship with Eastern Coalfields Limited, where he has contributed to curriculum development, operational analysis, and safety assessments.

He holds certifications including Second Class Manager (Unrestricted), First Aid, and Gas Testing. His strength lies in project management, team leadership, safety compliance, and academic coordination. He is passionate about integrating real-world industry practices into the classroom and committed to guiding students toward becoming competent, safety-conscious mining professionals.


Ranjeet Kumar
Mr. Ranjeet Kumar

Ranjeet Kumar is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Jharkhand Rai University. He is currently pursuing Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. He has over five years of academic experience. He previously worked as a Lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department at Madhupur Polytechnic College, Madhupur, for approximately two and a half years. Additionally, he has two years of administrative experience in the Examination Section at Madhupur Polytechnic, Madhupur, under JUT. He also served as Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Subhash Institute of Technology, Jamui, under SBTE, where he contributed to departmental leadership and academic management.
